50 Years in the Society of Jesus
Brother Robert Finlay, SJ 
Brother Bob was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, attended St. Paul’s High School, and before entering the Jesuits he was a printer’s apprentice. After his two years of novitiate, he was assigned to Milford, Ohio for the Brother’s Juniorate programme. On his return to Canada, he worked as a book binder at Regis College for twenty-one years while also being responsible for in-house printing and the mechanical maintainence. In 1987, he branched out into Desktop Publishing which he continued to do for eight years in Toronto. In 1995, he was assigned to Manresa Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Centre in Pickering as the supervisor of grounds and buildings, where he continues to live his Jesuit vocation of service today.
Father Robert (Bert) Foliot, SJ
Father Bert Foliot was born in Montreal and attended Loyola High School before entering the Jesuits. He undertook the regular Jesuit formation programme of two years of novitiate, two years of Juniorate, two years of philosphy, two years of regency (teaching at Campion High School in Regina), four years of theology and finally his tertianship. He began his active ministry as Assistant Pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes in Toronto, then moved in 1976 to St. Ignatius Parish in Winnipeg as Pastor and Superior of the community, only to return to Our Lady of Lourdes in 1991 as Pastor and Superior. In 2001, he became the Director of Anishinabe Spiritual Centre in Espanola, Ontario until he was appointed as Superior of the Jesuits at Pickering in 2006. After three years, he was named the Rector of Regis College Jesuit Community where he is today.
Father Douglas McCarthy, SJ
Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, he attended Nelson-Miramichi Rural High School before entering the Jesuit novitiate at Guelph Ontario. He was ordained a Jesuit priest in June of 1973 and completed his theological studies at Regis College in Willowdale, Ontario, the following year. His formation began in Guelph, then to Spokane, Washington for philosophy, Winnipeg for regency before attending Regis College in Toronto. His first priestly assignment was in Guelph where he worked for eighteen years in a variety of ministries: a prison chaplain for nine years, while also being assistant to the Master of Novices, Director of the “Red House”, Director of the “Farm Community”, and finally Master of Novices for nine years. From 1992 to 1999, he directed retreats at Manresa Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Centre and then was assigned to work among the First Nation Peoples in the Manitoulin District where today, he is Superior of the Jesuit Community and Pastor of Wikwemikong Churches.
Father Michael Stogre, SJ 
Although born in Summerside, PEI, Father Michael Stogre grew up in Toronto and attended St. Michael’s College School before entering the Jesuits. Michael followed the normal Jesuit course of studies with one year of teaching at Brebeuf College School in Toronto before spending a year in Community Development. After theology and ordination, he went to McMaster University where he studied medicine and obtained his M.D. After seven years working with the Jesuit Centre of Faith and Justice, he began an advanced degree in moral theology at the University of Ottawa where he obtained his PhD. From 1989 to the present, he has worked among the First Nations People in Ontario as pastor, Jesuit Superior and Director of the Anishinabe Spiritual Centre, where he resides and works today.
