Spiritual Direction

Each of us needs a safe place where we can discover who we are, and how to live our lives joyfully, creatively and compassionately. Spiritual direction offers us a space where we are listened to in such a way that we can discover the dynamics and patterns in our lives as people capable of loving and of being loved. Each of us has been created as a desire for the fullness of life and our lives are shaped by that desire. How that desire actually manifests itself in our daily lives, and in the decisions we make to satisfy that desire, is shaped by our culture, our families, and our personal experience.

In all of this God is present to us. But how to make sense of what we experience and how to figure out among the many conflicting voices and stories that construct our lives which ones actually offer a path with life and which ones alienate us from ourselves and others and God?

Spiritual direction offers us a way of looking at our past present and future to discover and celebrate what is good in them; and to offer to God for transformation those aspects that blind and trap us. By seeing and accepting ourselves as God sees and accepts us, we slowly become free of those false stories which trap us in destructive ways of living and we discover ways to delight and share the liberation we then experience in our daily lives, no matter how hard they may be.
