Orientations are just that -- orientations. 
They are points of departure ...
suggestions ... hints ... landmarks ... maps ... etc.,
to be used ... or not used
in as much as 
they are helpful for the landscape of the spirit.

        But like most other maps one must always fit the map to the landscape and not vice-versa. Many of the items come from the Christian tradition of Ignatian spirituality with complementary bits and pieces from elsewhere. The purpose is to make "spiritual tools" available to those seeking to deepen their spiritual lives by giving orientations for growth:

• in personal prayer;
• in serious reflection on various aspects of prayer and spirituality;
• in the ministry of companioning others on the inward journey.
