St. Ignatius Day 2009 Celebrations
On Friday, July 31, the Feast of St. Ignatius Loyola was celebrated by the Jesuits in English Canada in Pickering.
Mass was celebrated at St. Isaac Jogues Parish in Pickering and Provincial Superior Fr. James Webb, S.J., presided.
The following Jesuit Jubilarians, celebrating 50 years in the Society of Jesus were honoured:
Br. Paul J. Baker, Fr. Bernard F. Carroll, Fr. John E. Costello, Fr. Michael A. Coutts, Fr. David R. Eley, Fr. Gerard J. Fokke, Fr. Lawrence J. Kroker, Fr. John C. Legge, Br. Michael M. Martin, Fr. David J. Norris, Fr. Michael J. O’Donnell, Fr. Charles S. Pottie, and Fr. Christopher T. Rupert.
During the Mass the congregation also remembered the Jesuits who had passed away since the last Feast Day celebrations:
Br. Eugene D. Hughes, Fr. Joseph C. Johnson, Fr. George P. Leach, Fr. Brian R. Massie, Fr. J. Brian Peckham, Fr. William A. Stewart, Fr. Edmund Toreki, and Fr. John A. Veltri.
The Mass was followed by a lunch on the grounds of Manresa-Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Centre in Pickering.
