Jesuit Novitiate Open House

On Saturday, November 15, the Jesuit Novitiate in Montreal held its first Open House, which brought some 80 visitors to see the new setting.

The novitiate is a new venture, established this year, in which both Canadian provinces, French and English, are collaborating in the formation of young Jesuits.

Both provincial superiors, Fr. Daniel LeBlond of French Canada and Fr. Jim Webb of English Canada were on hand to bless the novitiate in a bilingual ceremony.

Among the visitors were Jesuits from both provinces, family members of several novices, and friends and supporters of the Jesuits from around Montreal, both English and French.

Fr. Daniel LeBlond, S.J. and Fr. Jim Webb, S.J., provincial superiors of both French and English Canada respectively, conducted the formal blessing of the novitiate, assisted by Fr. Bernard Carrière, S.J., superior of the novitiate community, and Fr. Erik Oland, S.J., Novice Master.

The novices led the assembly in music, ably supported by Santiago Rodriguez and Chris Taucar.

Jesuits of both provinces, family, and friends enjoyed the opportunity to see the new novitiate.
