Regis College Celebrates its New Home
On Wednesday March 26, more than 180 people gathered for a Mass of Thanksgiving and reception at the future home of Regis College in Toronto.
Regis College Chancellor Jean-Marc Laporte, SJ, was the principal celebrant, while College President Joseph Schner, SJ, and Dean Gordon Rixon, SJ, were concelebrants at the Thanksgiving Mass at St. Joseph Chapel at 90 Wellesley St.
The mass was followed by a reception and tour at Christie House, located at the corner of Wellesley and Queen's Park Circle.
In his welcoming remarks, President Father Joseph Schner thanked the many people who made the move to the new location possible.
"Thank you to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto who have so graciously and generously welcomed us to their home of many years," said Father Schner. "It was here that the first women students at St. Michael's University first made their home as well - a wonderful sign of things to come. In the years ahead, this chapel of St. Joseph and the Holy Family will be our reminder each day of your goodness to us and of your far-seeing wisdom."
Father Schner also thanked the University of Toronto's President, Vice-presidents, Associate and Assistant Vice-presidents, Deans, administrators and counselors, the Provincial of the Jesuits in English Canada and many of his assistants and associates, sister colleges at the Toronto School of Theology, the Regis community, the Board, the faculty, staff, students and alumni who spent many months in consultation and decision-making with the architects and one another.
