Ordinations
2007 — A Pictorial Report
On April 16, 2007, the provinces of English Canada and French Canada jointly celebrated the ordination of three Jesuit students of Regis College, the Jesuit School of Theology, in Toronto. Bishop John Boissonneau, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Toronto, was the ordaining prelate at the ceremony held at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, the Jesuit parish in Toronto.
John Sullivan, S.J. (CDA) was ordained to the priesthood. Pierre Rachelin Coicou, S.J. (GLC) and Jean Maxène Joizile, S.J. (GLC), both from the Region of Haïti, received the order of deacon.
Rev. Frs. Jean-Marc Laporte, S.J. and Daniel LeBlond, S.J., provincial superiors of the English Canada and French Canada provinces respectively, chat before the ceremony.

The ordinandi prostrate themselves before the altar while the assembly invokes the intercession of the saints and the Church on their behalf and prays for God's blessing on them and their future ministry.
The bishop imposes hands on John Sullivan, silently asking the Holy Spirit to sanctify him as a priest in the most solemn moment of the ceremony. This is followed by a procession of all the priest in the assembly imposing hands on the newly ordained priest.
John's friends assist him with his priestly vestments.
John joins the bishop, his fellow priests, and the newly ordained deacons at the altar for the remainder of the Eucharist. Here John recites part of the Eucharistic Prayer.
John distributes communion to the faithful in attendance.
